SHOCKING: Special Ed Teacher Accused of Abusing 15-Year-Old Student During Tutoring Session! 🚨 A chilling case has emerged from Downers Grove, Illinois, where a special education teacher stands accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old student during a tutoring session. Christina Formella, 30, was arrested after the victim’s mother discovered disturbing text messages on her son’s phone, revealing an alleged inappropriate relationship between the teacher and the teenager.

The mother immediately reported the incident to the police, leading to Formella’s arrest during a traffic stop on Sunday.
According to authorities, the alleged abuse began in December 2023, when Formella was tutoring the boy alone in a classroom at Downers Grove South High School. The text messages reportedly detailed their sexual relationship, which the mother stumbled upon last Friday. Formella, who also coached boys’ and girls’ soccer at the school, has denied the allegations. However, the evidence has led to serious charges, including Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse and Criminal Sexual Assault.
The community is in shock, with Principal Arwen Lyp describing the incident as a devastating breach of trust. In an email to parents, Lyp expressed the school’s heartbreak and promised to reach out to families of students who had direct contact with Formella. The teacher has since been placed on paid administrative leave and is barred from contacting anyone under 18 or entering the high school.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin emphasized that such behavior will not be tolerated, calling the allegations “extremely disturbing.” Formella’s next court appearance is scheduled for April 14, 2025, as the legal process unfolds. This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and open communication between parents and their children.
